Knowing the weight of every component on an aircraft, down to the last wire, is vital to good design. This test is to be used to evaluate the weight of a finished cable specimen.
Testing follows the same measurement procedure of the AS4373 procedure 1 method of the wire weight test:
Measurements of cable weight are made of loose cable at least 10ft in length. Weight measurements are performed on a scale with accuracy to three significant figures. The recorded weight is converted to pounds per 1000 ft and is the resultant cable weight.
