The wrap test evaluates the ability of a wire to cable insulation to resist cracking when wrapped around a mandrel.
A test specimen (approximately 2 feet in length) is wrapped tightly around a specified diameter mandrel for two close turns. The sample is then removed from the mandrel and visually examined for damage or cracks to the insulation. Finally, the sample undergoes a wet dielectric test to detect any leakage current.
