Insulation Crosslink Proof
Thermal FOR: Insulation $1,520This test is to be used to evaluate the cross-linking of certain types of wire insulation. In this test, the sample is exposed to a temperature above the wire rating for a short duration. If the sample insulation has not been properly cross-linked, then the elevated temperature and mechanical stressing of this test will cause the insulation to weaken and likely fail a dielectric voltage withstand test performed after the environmental and mechanical stressing.
Procedure
- Visually inspect sample for defects.
- Place samples on jig with appropriate weight to maintain tension.
- Place test jig in an oven set at the specified temperature.
- Remove test jig after specified duration.
- Perform bend test with samples.
- Perform wet dielectric voltage withstand test with samples.
- Report Results.
