Section 6.2.10 of SAE J2394 specifies the fluid resistance test for cable insulation. Specimens are immersed in specified fluids (fuels, oils, coolants) for defined periods and then tested for retention of physical properties.
Fluid resistance is critical for automotive cables that may be exposed to engine fluids, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and other chemicals encountered in vehicle wiring environments.
