This test evaluates the examination-wired contacts of connector specimens as specified in AS39029. The test is performed in accordance with the procedures defined in the standard to verify compliance with the applicable requirements.
Test specimens are prepared and conditioned as specified, then subjected to the defined test procedure. Results are compared against the acceptance criteria established in the product specification to determine conformance.
As with any aerospace EWIS component, contacts and connectors should be thoroughly inspected for conformity to the product specification and to ensure no defects are present. This examination specifically applies to wired contacts. Samples are visually inspected at 3X magnification to identify defects in the contact(s). A sample will fail the examination if the presence of metal cracks or peeling of the plating is observed.
