This test evaluates whether insulation materials may cause corrosion of copper conductors by using a polished copper mirror specimen as specified in AS23053 Rev A. The test material is placed in contact with or close proximity to a polished copper coupon and exposed to elevated temperature and humidity conditions.
After the exposure period, the copper mirror is examined for evidence of tarnishing or corrosion. This test identifies insulation or accessory materials that may release corrosive substances that could degrade copper conductors over time.
