Conductor Stranding

The lay of conductor stands in a wire conductor has a significant impact on a wire's performance. In particular, wires with stranded conductors tend to have greater flexibility than those with single core conductors.

The conductor stranding test it is a quality check to evaluate the conductor stranding. The individual strands of the conductor are counted and measured to ensure that they conform to the product specification. This test can be a good quality check if a cable or wire is received from an unknown supplier. One common problem found with unverified sources is the manufacturer will undersize the conductor in order to reduce manufacturing costs.
