Capacitance per Unit Length
Electrical FOR: Insulation $950Sometimes referred to as the Dielectric Constant, the capacitance of a wire/cable is of particular interest for data applications (limited importance for power applications). Those wires/cables with high capacitance values can significantly impact signal quality, particularly high speed data applications.
This test, which can be performed on a wire or cable, measures the specimen's capacitance per unit length.

Procedure
- Visually examine the specimen for any damage or defects. Record any anomalies.
- Immerse the specimen in distilled water bath for the specified time duration with the specimen leads above the wire line.
- Apply a test voltage to the specimen and measure the capacitance with a capacitance bride.
- Report the capacitance and dielectric constant.
