Method 4.7.7.3 is an assembly resistance test for EMI/RFI shielding assemblies. Test current is applied at both ends of the assembly to measure the total electrical resistance of the shielding system.
Assemblies with plugs shall be mated and the current applied on the test apparatus, while assemblies with grounding clamp connectors shall have clamp connectors attached to steel rods of 0.750 +/- 0.010 inch (19.05 +/- 0.25 mm) diameter. Current is applied 0.500 +/- 0.125 inch (12.70 +/- 3.18 mm) from the jaw of the clamp.
This test verifies that the complete EMI shield assembly provides the specified low-resistance electrical path necessary for effective electromagnetic interference shielding in military cable installations.
