Many of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) built have been for military applications. As this technology has matured so has the reliability. The improvements in reliability have made it a viable consideration to support civilian applications. Right now, the FAA has not certified a UAV, but undoubtedly this will occur. This video provides a cursory review of UAVs from an EWIS perspective specifically, how should EWIS risk assessment and certification be considered.
In this 10 minute video we cover:
- The fundamentals of EWIS risk assessment
- Guiding principles as related to overall aircraft risk assessment
- Potential key regulations
- Physical EWIS failure
- Functional EWIS failure
- How existing regulations on general aviation might provide insight to UAVs
