High temperatures and testing electrical aircraft components

An aircraft must perform under a wide range of temperature conditions. As a result, designers must pay attention to testing electrical aircraft components to see if they can endure constant changes in temperatures over the years.

Today we have a short video that gives an overview of what role a scientific oven plays in testing aerospace electrical systems. These tests can include current going through the device during the test. Once out of the oven, the electrical equipment may be subjected to flex testing, thermal endurance, thermal shock, or even delamination.

Lectromec performs most tests with an elevated temperature oven range from 200°C - 280°C (392°F – 536°F). However, some components have been tested at temperatures as high as 325°C (617° Fahrenheit). The oven shown in the video has a capacity of 1.5 cubic feet.
