Method 4.8.33 is a temperature/humidity test performed when specified in the applicable specification sheet. The cable is tested in accordance with EIA 364-31, humidity test procedure, method IV, with a cold temperature step.
After completion of the testing, the cable is allowed to return to 68F (20C). Specimen failure is determined if the attenuation requirements of the applicable specification sheet are not met.
This combined environmental test subjects the cable to cycles of varying temperature and humidity conditions to evaluate the cable’s ability to maintain its electrical performance characteristics under the environmental stresses encountered in naval shipboard applications.
