Method 4.4.5.3 is a temperature and humidity test in storage mode. The cable assembly in the packaged condition is subjected to a 28-day temperature/humidity test. The total test is made up of two 14-day temperature and humidity cycles.
The term ‘chamber temperature’ refers to the temperature of the air immediately surrounding the equipment. Chamber temperature may be changed by varying the temperature of a single chamber or by moving the test specimen from one constant temperature chamber to another.
This test evaluates the cable’s ability to maintain integrity during prolonged storage under varying temperature and humidity conditions encountered in military supply chain storage.
