Insulation color is often used to identify a wire or cable’s system or function(s). This test evaluates the characteristics of an insulator’s color as compared to the limitations specified in the applicable standard.
A visual examination of the color is made in comparison with either the MIL-STD-104 limit cards or the UV Munsell color limit cards. The color of stripes, bands, tracers, and the background insulation color must all be verified with the relevant standard.
