The accelerated service test evaluates the performance of a finished cable at electrical overload conditions.
The test sample is placed into a heating chamber in a horizontal loop at 30°C for a period of 7 hours. During this time a defined test current and voltage are continuously applied and the temperature is continuously measured at intervals across the specimen. The sample is monitored throughout the test for electrical overload (blown fuse, tripped relay, etc.), sample temperature, and physical deformities.
